A Mercer County Public Library card gives you complete access to our physical and digital collections, as well as the ability to use public computers, take home seeds from the seed library, and borrow our circulating AV equipment.
Stop by the library or visit our bookmobile for an application form.
Eligibility
Residents of Mercer County, people who work in Mercer County, and people who own land or real estate in Mercer County are eligible for a library card. Residents of or employees in immediately contiguous counties (Anderson, Boyle, Garrard, Jessamine, Washington, and Woodford) are also eligible.
A child of any age may also be issued a card upon application on their behalf by a parent, foster parent, or legal guardian who meets the criteria for eligible borrowers.
Temporary residents of Mercer County or immediately contiguous counties, such as college students or workers on temporary assignments, may be issued a temporary card with limited borrowing privileges for the duration of their stay.
Requirements
Residents or reciprocal borrowers 18 and older must show a valid ID with current address. If the address on the ID is not current, the applicant must also provide a piece of mail showing current address. If the applicant is eligible based on employment location, property ownership, or temporary residence rather than permanent residence, he or she must show proof of the alternate qualification.
For a child under 18, the adult applying for the card on their behalf must show proof of ID and address, and must accept responsibility for materials borrowed on the child’s card.
