Our Mission
The Mercer County Public Library supports life-long learning by offering variety and quality in the collections, programs and services that reflect the needs and interests of our community.
Our Logo and Artwork
Our logo was inspired by the library’s signature artwork – “Of Time and Tilth” – a sculptural screen that greets patrons as they enter our building. Artists Erika Strecker and Tony Higdon designed and constructed the screen to represent Mercer County’s rich agricultural heritage. They incorporated implements used on local farms and generously donated by the following Mercer County families:
- Mrs. Beuna Baker
- Mr. Bill Chilton, Lone Pine Farm
- Mr. & Mrs. Glenn Cocanougher
- Drake Farm
- Mr. & Mrs. Pete Dennen, Windward Oaks Farm
- Mr. Hughes Jones
- Tallgrass Farm
- Mr. Jim Wade, Sr.
- Mrs. James Wheeler
The art screen, like the library, shows the beauty that results when art and industry, science and creativity, tradition and innovation come together in one place for the good of the community.
